Blackfield Festival 2012 – Jun-23&24 – Gelsenkirchen: Viva Music Review with Photos

Blackfield Festival celebrated its fifth edition with a first-time sold-out arena on Jun-23&24 in Gelsenkirchen. In the already traditional Amphitheater of Gelsenkirchen, the festival was set up as a middle-sized event to the minutest of details. Not only the amphitheater was made-to-fit the crowd and its access to and fro, but it provided excellent venue facilities. All bands were rigorous about their stage time and the schedule allowed everyone to be entertained by a musical diversity which was at the same time well-thought and respectful of people’s tastes and interests. The setup of the festival was complemented by a large array of facilities and the food served met all tastes. Add to that the number of shops for gear and clothing, jewelry and fragrances, as well as the wonderful medieval fair, and you tick all the boxes of a dream festival. Unfortunately, the weather was not so welcoming, but however, did not actually impact the audience, who stood against a first day of scorching sun and wind, and a second day of drenching rain and dark skies.

Viva Music’s presence at the festival was enriching and educational – we have of course met before decent and respectful organization of events, and Blackfield is one of the festivals which actually commit to people’s well-being while on the premises, but we were constantly overwhelmed by the friendliness of space, people, and concept of the festival. So our thanks go to the Blackfield organizing team, to our fellow artists, journalists and music fans – with them, the event felt like a blessing, and within minutes of its end, we would have started this experience all over again! New single “Freiheit” from Pakt on August-12!

Update on Aug-05: The official video for Pakt‘s single “Freiheit” is online starting today! Enjoy!

Update on July-29: As of today,  Pakt‘s website is online! Standing testimony to the seriousness of their newborn project, the site is ‘packed’ with all the traditional tools of a band website: bio, discography, media, gallery, and a plethora of sharing tools for social services! We really like the website and are going to bookmark: http://www.paktprodukt.de/.  With a teasing tag line “two guys who just wanna play with you” the website also gives snippet preview of tracks from the forthcoming Pakt productions.

Out of Line announces the release of Pakt‘s first single on August-12! Pakt are Chris Ruiz and Gio von Oli, who have recently left And One. Their new act is not wasting any time, with a first single out next month (packed with remixes from DAF, Formalin and Funker Vogt), and a M’era Luna date! If you add to this the fact that the name of Pakt was on everyone’s lips at our recent visit to Amphi Festival, and many participants showed their support of the new act by buying and wearing Pakt merch, we know we need to keep our eyes and ears open for them!

Tracklist:  “Freiheit” * “Angriff” * “Freiheit (Robert Goerl Remix by Robert Goerl of DAF)” * “Freiheit (Gummi-Drum-Remix by G.Thomas of Funker Vogt)” * “Freiheit (Freiheit und Gerechtigkeit Rework by Formalin)”

Order now Pakt‘s first single from Out of Line‘s shop here. | Watch the making of video for “Freiheit” after the jump. (more…)

Kinetik Festival, May 19-23 in Montreal: News!

A non-profit organization founded by a partnership between KAO Production, EBEN Production & [i] Prod to promote the North American Electro-Industrial-Noize scene, Kinetik Productions is proud to bring you back after the success of the last editions, the Kinetik Festival from May 19 to 23 2011 in Montreal, Canada. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this unique experience with some of the best acts of the Electro-Industrial scene performing during those four days!

KINETIK DEFINITION (KINETIC) :

The kinetic energy (also called in the old writings live viva, or sharp force) is the energy which a body because of its movement has. The kinetic energy of a body is equal to work necessary to make pass says it body of the rest to its current rotation and translatory movement.

It is Guillaume d’ Ockham (1280-1349) who introduced, in 1323, the difference between what is called the dynamic movement (that we generate) and the kinetic movement (generated by interactions, of which collisions).*

2010 Album Releases You Want to Listen to

A rich and provocative year, 2010 meant the release of many new albums from the relevant names from the gothic, industrial and electro scenes, but also the discovery of new artists, that come, layer upon layer of sound,  to further enlarge the musical spectrum, reconsider the influences, and at the same time remain under the non-mainstream cone of light.

Amphi Festival 2010 review: Day 1

AMPHI FESTIVAL in Cologne, Germany is the smartest and most convenient festival I have ever attended. It was obvious on July 24 and 25, 2010 that the organizer had definitely worked very hard to make all the 16,000 participants feel entertained and satisfied.

The clout of this festival was made of: the participants (amazing crowd of amazing dancers and party people, donning wonderful outfits – sometimes the audience were better dressed than the band members), the organization, the venue (amazing view of the Rhine, beach bar and lounge, small and large places to sit down, terraces and benches, in the shade or in the sun, vegetation everywhere). The location gives you the feeling of an all inclusive holiday club with another 16,000 people who are also enjoying themselves to the max.
