Released by Synthetic Symphony/SPV on January 14, the long-awaited album from COVENANT, “Modern Ruin” is the band’s ninth and probably the one which took the longest in the making. Five years after full-length “Skyshaper” and the live “In Transit”, COVENANT’s comeback is a fulgurating statement of their power of enthrallment on the scene. Hailed three months ago by the well-received single “Lightbringer” (feat. Necro Facility), the album, its deluxe release and the first single stay atop of sales charts and generate an incredible buzz.
Proof to the album’s success stands the album’s core of 11 tracks, forced into shape by the band’s trio: ESKIL SIMONSSON, DANIEL MYER, and JOAKIM MONTELIUS. What “Modern Ruin” does in effect, is similar to fusion cuisine: adding a pinch of darkwave to a broth of electro and future pop. It starts with an engaging intro, homonymous with the album title, and sets an alarming tone to what ensues. And it’s no wonder, since “Lightbringer” (feat. Necro Facility) stirs up next. It is a majestic, athletic track – with a lengthy and elaborate structure that not incidentally, we suppose, proposes a thematic cleansing: from shedding skin to burning down as a sacrifice, the listener is passed through a cleansing curtain that ensures their initiatory novitiate into the album.
Filmari HD cu pregatirile pentru concertul tribut Nine Inch Nails din data de 12 februarie in Club Fabrica din Bucuresti pot fi urmarite mai jos. Clipurile au fost realizate de Adrian Rolland (Bloodbath.ro).
Nota: Aceste filmari nu reflecta produsul final, ci trebuie catalogate drept ‘work in progress’. Enjoy!
Victor ‘Vava’ Ferezan – bass/backing vocals (Tep Zepi)
Stefan Zaharescu – voce (Kistvaen, Domination, Dwarf Planet)
Never one to shy away from asking the tough questions, KMFDM gives voice to the inquiry that is on everyone’s lips in these twisted times – “WTF?!”. “WTF?!“, the band’s new album released on Metropolis Records, joins the ranks of their many records titled with a five character name.
“WTF?!” features 11 brand new songs, including the album’s lead single Krank, KMFDM’s latest anthem. All in all Käpt’n K. and his Kadets provide over 50 minutes of guaranteed musical mayhem on this new release. Conducted by KMFDM founder, leader and vocalist Sascha K., who believes this is his most powerful and dominate sonic statement to date. KMFDM’s female singer, Lucia, proves her vocal prowess on the dreamy yet driving “Dystopia” and the super-charged revolution-themed rocker “Rebels In Kontrol”, which has already made news as a protest song in support of Wikileaks. Continuing the band-based formula of recent years, KMFDMers Jules Hodgson, Steve White and Andy Selway round out the roster.
It will come as no surprise to followers of KMFDM to learn that “WTF?!” is laden with contributions from Kompatriots far and wide. Static-X guitarist Koichi Fukuda can be found shredding on the noisy “Come On – Go Off”. William Wilson of KMFDM Record’s Legion Within lends his vocal talent to “Spectre”. Picking up where Blitz’s “Strut” left off, the disco-fueled “Take It Like A Man” showcases Lucia dueting with Free Dominquez of Kidney Thieves. Sebastian Komor of Komor Kommando and Icon Of Coil’s production on multiple tracks as well as input from stray KMFDM member Bill Rieflin top off this impressive list.
While this is not their first album title to contain a question mark (that would be their 1986 debut album “What Do You Know“, Deutschland?) this is the first to feature an exclamation point. Regardless, it was only a matter of time before this happened as few bands make more sloganized exclamations than KMFDM. The “WTF?!” artwork features a humorously suggestive, yet ultimately destructive cover illustration by KMFDM contributor Brute!. A fitting visual for this sly but brutal release.
On “WTF?!“, listeners will find a new addition to the menagerie of languages employed by KMFDM (English, German, Latin, Hebrew, Lingala (an African language), Spanish and Russian) as the band further proclaim themselves citizens of the world with “Panzerfaust”, sung in Italian. This time out KMFDM break their own formula of including a cover song on the last three albums. “WTF?!” is pure KMFDM through and through.
With “WTF?!” KMFDM once again has given notice to the mainstream that “Whatever you stand for, we do not!”, be prepared as, “It’s a f**kin’ takeover!”. For those who dare to ask WTF?!, you have been warned, KMFDM take no prisoners.

LeVant is a Romanian electro/darkwave project by George D. Stanciulescu, known as the mastermind behind the dark neoclassical act Ad Ombra. LeVant was created as a more electronic option to Ad Ombra‘s weavings, oscillating between the aesthetics of refined electronica, classy orchestral touches, ethereal, ethnic and sacred music infusions, catchy uptempo beats, fantastic guitar work, various sampling , all wrapped in an one of a kind atmospheric perfume.
LeVant‘s debut album, “Beyond the Masque of Eden” is now available at Deadscarletrecords. At George D. Stanciulescu‘s side, main musicians are: Mihai Mahalu (acoustic and electric guitars), Alexandra Damian (mezzo-soprano / choir), Ilinca Olteanu (soprano / choir), Maria Păduraru (soprano / choir).
The album, benefiting of evocative poetic extracts from the great R.M. Rilke, E.A. Poe, D. Campana, M. Eminescu, offers a lyrical and seductive journey through 11 tracks, 45 minutes, for fans of electro / gothic music, ethnic ambient connaisseurs, In the Nursery, E.S.Posthumus, Delerium.
Technology of Silence is a story about a post-nuclear city, a story about the people living in this city, a story about an ecological catastrophe, human madness, human fears and the eternal search for a goal in the loneliness.
Technology of Silence is also a Russian Ambient/Industrial/Experimental-project, existing since 2004. Founder of this project is Denis Romanov, who unites the incompatible opposites silence and music and makes it a whole, while taking a focus on the world that surrounds us and the events that take place in it, watching it from different points of view.
It is a mixture of Ambient, Industrial, IDM and Minimal, although the band isn’t concentrating on a particular style. Environmental problems and man-made disasters are the basic themes, which draw a red line through the back-catalogue of Technology of Silence. The centre of attention in the stories of the band is a post-nuclear city, described as ruins of a high-tech-civilization, corrupted by mankind, and a place full of human recollections, emotions and feelings.
“Squad“, the fourth new album from Technology of Silence, is out on February 15 at Ionium Records.

GHOST & WRITER is a project group devised by JIMMYJOE SNARK III, a man of multiple talents featured as VIVA MUSIC’s Artist of the Month in October 2010, and SEABOUND’s Frank Spinath – a killer combination that comes with a great concept album and good vibes. Prior to the album’s release, JIMMYJOE SNARK III confessed to VIVA MUSIC that “Shipwrecks” comes as a mirrored structure of 8 tracks and their remixes, with a Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde quality to it: “both Frank and I are involved in different bands and projects, so there are some elements we put in here and not there, maybe because that is not the right project for it, and in that sense, there is a Dr. Jeckyll aspect to how we behave”’. The album, to be released on January-28 by DEPENDENT RECORDS, benefits from the creative input of FRONT 242’s Daniel B.’s remastering, and is an enthusing listen, of great picturesque content and compels to multiple auditions.
The opening track, “From Hell” is a de profundis call that truncates a vibrant message that fails to pierce the gates of hell and burns on the way to its recipient. A great composition, “From Hell” (2nd rendition: IRIS), is a masterpiece that sets in motion the entire album, that recalls to a large extent the contemporary malaise of not being able to get your message across in a tangled web of communication the chaos of which spells out as sheer hell. “Hitman” (2nd rendition: FILE NOT FOUND) has a very danceable beat and reminds of a video game (incidentally, JIMMYJOE SNARK III is a video game music composer, too), but it is more than just a simple video game jingle, a fully fledged melody that comes with a compass for labyrinth of sound it produces.
Viva Music is making the dark gothic.industrial.synth music known to the Romanian audience! Our success is the electro fans reaction. Electro music fans supported us on Facebook during every show and we are so grateful! Thank you, guys! If you read this, please leave a comment!
