The Amphi Festival 2010 supports victims of abuse!

On Friday 23.07.2010 the „Amphi Festival – New Talents Special“ took place at the „Theater am Tanzbrunnen” in Cologne. Beginning at 8 pm, four talented bands stepped into a musical competition for the opening position of the Amphi Festival 2010.

After each of the participating bands had to secure their starting position through an Ebay auction, it was up to the audience to decide the outcome of the evening with a small donation. In the end ZIN from Leipzig took a clear victory over Boundlezz in second place. Divamee and Novus UK occupied the further ranks.

tenek on the wire

Watch out on September 06, 2010 for Toffeetones Records’ release of tenek’s new album: ‘On the Wire’.

Confirming a long-term relationship between house and band, following two EP’s, two singles and one album, the UK duo’s new album is going to sweep you off your both feet. The Nine/Mesh’s Geoff Pinckney and Pete Steer bring you a coherent and plausible eleven-track new album this fall, which most certainly should attract the attention of synthpop and actually all electronica aficionados.

Dark Underground Lifestyle Weekend Made in Holland: Summer Darkness

Filed under: Summer Darkness — admin @ 10:50 am

You could say Holland has a nose for our scene, it suffices to browse this autumn’s events in Amsterdam’s Melkweg: Killing Joke, Tristania, Einstuerzende Neubauten, Apocalyptica are all going to play in Holland. But before that, nothing sounds better than celebrating the onset of autumn with some Summer Darkness. Self-entitled ‘Dark Underground Lifestyle Weekend‘, Utrecht‘s Summer Darkness event will be taking place between August 13-15 and promises you a mixture of music, gothic fashion, arts, market, gothic picnics, underground dancenights, and boattrips. Blasting Gothic, Wave, Electro, Industrial, EBM and Medieval music will entertain guests from across all Europe on three days packed with carefully selected acts of today’s scene that will perform in various locations: Tivoli Oudegracht, Tivoli De Helling, Dom Church, Dom Square, Museum Speelklok and Boat Trip Boarding.

Friday, August 13 is going to be packed with class events like the Bal du Masque: Moulin Rouge, Speak Easy feeling of the twenties, the Berlin of the forties, Cirque Bizarre and El Dia de los Muertos all-in-one. Music provided by Brendan Perry in the Dom Church at 21 hrs.

E-tropolis 2010, Berlin: Viva Music review

My review of the first edition of E-tropolis festival (Columbiahalle, Berlin, Germany, June 26, 2010) is a festival log and a source of information for people who have not attended an electro festival before (consequently need to know what they are missing), or some other electro fans who did not make it to Berlin, and would like to have a rough idea of what happened there. This review (photos included) reflects my enthusiasm of both participating as an accredited reporter (thanks to the organizer) and seeing some bands for the first time. I strongly encourage every person who likes electro music to take a weekend off from other activities and go to festivals in Germany. The next one I am going to is Amphi Festival in Cologne, July 24-25, 2010.
