IN THE NURSERY’s “Blind Sound” is quite an experience for the listener, even more so for the one whose ears have not previously been tuned in to their majestic sound and glorious depictions of the most interesting facets of life. Usually swinging back and forth in critics’ view between neoclassical and martial electronica, what IN THE NURSERY is striking for is first of all their attention to the delicacy and minuteness of the slightest of sounds. With relevant experience in re-scoring silent movies (among which, most recently, the epoch-making 1928 “The Passion of St. Joan of Arc” with iconic Renee Jeanne Falconetti, IN THE NURSERY are sparkling in their creativity and imposition of atmosphere and cadence. Levant’s “Beyond the Masque of Eden” Viva Music Album Review

In January 2011 we shared the great news of the release of LeVant’s “Beyond the Masque of Eden” with Deadscarletrecords; intuiting that it is a great album and being convinced so by the album trailer (watch here). It was no surprise, then, to discover a great audio experience in the album of the self-entitled “contemporary electro-mystique music project” LeVant, and to feel proud of our Romanian roots and cultural heritage.

George D. Stanciulescu’s compositions included on “Beyond the Masque of Eden” are a fascinating voyage, one that appeals to the ear that is accustomed to darkwave and electronica, and that is redolent at moments of great composition of dark cross-genres, from Rasputina to Diary of Dreams, and from This Mortal Coil to In Strict Confidence – in a flow of sound that leaves you no alternative but to pick up and carry on the majestic and thoroughly intellectual tracks. Apocalyptica to Headline Zita Rock Festival on June 18-19, 2011

Great news for Zita Rock Festival 2011 attendees: APOCALYPTICA headlines the festival, being the latest band from the event’s poster to be announced by the organizers. With PROJECT PITCHFORK, SCHANDMAUL and EISBRECHER already confirmed for the event that’s going to take place on June 18-19, 2011 in Berlin’s Spandau Citadel, the festival is going to celebrate its 5th year around with additional performances from artists such as SAMSAS TRAUM, MONO INC., END OF GREEN or QNTAL.

DARKWAVE.RO festival (November 12, 2010, KULTURHAUS, formerly Twice Club) hails from the tradition VIVA MUSIC set off in February 2009 with FIRST ROMANIAN DARKFEST.

VIVA MUSIC solely promotes quality electro.dark.industrial.Goth.synth music in Romania. Four acts who call the shots on the electro/goth scene (SLAVE REPUBLIC, PAINBASTARD, DESTROID and FRANK THE BAPTIST) will fire up KULTURHAUS until dawn! From synthpop to harsh industrial, and giving equal and undivided attention to deathrock and electro, the four acts will trespass the bounds of conventionalism and teach mainstream music a lesson.

Dear Electrofans,

On 3^rd September 2011 it is time again for a blast of electronic sounds! With the E‑tropolis Festival at the Columbia Compound Berlin another strictly electronic line-up of contemporary blockbuster-acts and interesting surprises is about to unfurl. While artists like WELLE: ERDBALL, HAUJOBB, ASCII.DISKO, FADERHEAD and FABRIK C have already been confirmed, we dragged the entertainment-screw even further in and again recruited three exciting acts, including the headliner:

New bands confirmed at the E-tropolis Festival 2011:

After a breathtaking show at this year´s Amphi Festival in Cologne the choice for the next E-tropolis headliner was not too difficult. The undisputed kings of the alternative dancefloor, VNV NATION, are picking it up again! As headliner of the E-tropolis Festival 2011 Ronan Harris and Mark Jackson secured the privilege of the finale grande, turning the C-Hall into a boiling witches’ cauldron.

Also new to the line-up: Berlin´s local heroes SOLITARY EXPERIMENTS as well as „Pitchfork“-Peter Spilles and Jinxy with their feisty project SANTA HATES YOU.

NACHTMAHR however cancelled their previously confirmed participation. We are sorry for they are not going to play. Meanwhile efforts have been initiated to find you a worthy replacement soon.

La Femme Verte produces some ‘Small Distortions’

La Femme Verte’s “Small Distortions” is, just as the title of the album says, an insignificant stray from original tracks, with new instruments and new voices that do not defamiliarize the listener’s perception at all. What is more, some, if not all, bring a novel, and freshly squeezed beat out of songs from as old as 1961 and as new as 1996 that we must have heard before at least one hundred times each. Let it be clear from the very beginning: we, at Viva Music love the original songs, but “Small Distortions” makes us love some of them even more.
