Viva Music took the third step in making the dark gothic.industrial.synth music known to the Romanian audience on Sunday, December 26, 2010. Our dear friend and supporter, Laurentiu Rusen (thank you, Laur!), Vivi and Adara were guests of the extremely popular “A la chart de week-end”, with Bogdan Crutescu show on Radio Bucuresti (98.3 FM) for the third time.

We are grateful to Bogdan Crutescu for his invitation, and we appreciate his support. It looks like he is turning into an electrohead himself! He favourited Aesthetic Perfection today, namely “The Siren”. We played “The Ones” from the same album – “A Violent Emotion” – on a previous show, so it is great to see Bogdan has already picked a favorite band!

Shadow Minds ‘The Arc of Truth’ Album Review

German duo SHADOW MINDS (Charly Barth-Ricklefs and Michael Nielsen) tell us their truth in their latest album “The Arc of Truth” (September 2010, Danse Macabre Records). After one maxi CD entitled “Nemesis” (2006) and one full album called “Extend the Line” (2008) released with Nordlicht Records, SHADOW MINDS go full-blast with their EBM and synth-pop new album “The Arc of Truth” with Danse Macabre Records – home, among others, of BEATI MORTUI, DAS ICH, OTTO DIX or ROSENCRANZ.

The album comprises 14 original compositions, including one collaboration with ISAAC JUNKIE. Overall, the album charms from the very first beats, and does a great deal of moving around techniques and genres, to the extent that no one song resembles the other, and there is pure quality in the album’s composition and musical layout. “Standing Up”, the album’s first thrust, proposes an emancipated sound, which sounds modern and fresh, with Charly’s vocals unobtrusively fitting into the song. “Standing Up” is about the prominence of one’s own opinions in any life situation.

Violent BackPropagation (Lars – synth; Kma – photos, Leslie – graphics), Romanian self-entitled ‘online electro-industrial-aggrotech-ebm-whatever’ group of recent date (announced on October-12) remixed Global Citizen‘s “Early Morning Star“, released this December. Global Citizen released to great success in 2008 “Master Stroke” with Rebco Records, and comes back in 2010 with “Nil By Mouth” (Copyright: Rich Mills; Rebco Records – can be purchased on cdbaby.com). Trent Reznor’s ‘Social Network’ Golden Globe Nomination and Rolling Stone Interview

On December, 14, HFPA, the Golden Globe’s official site, published the nominations for the 2011 awards. The Best Original Score nominations include: Alexandre Desplat’s “The King’s Speech“, Danny Elfman’s “Alice in Wonderland“, A.R. Rahman’s “127 Hours“, Hans Zimmer’s “Inception“, and, as well, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross‘s “The Social Network“. With six nominations, “The Social Network” affirms itself as a great 2011 favorite.

On 3^rd September 2011 the E-TROPOLIS FESTIVAL returns to Berlin, and the line-up already promises to landmark an exciting highlight of the forthcoming festival season. Happy Birthday Attrition! 30y Anniversary

On December 8th, 1980, the day John Lennon was shot was also the day that ATTRITION played their first ever show, a fledgling post punk line up of vocals, guitar, bass and drums played a short set at the Belgrade venue in Coventry, England. 30 years on the venue might no longer be there, but ATTRITION are stronger than ever.
